Is it just me or is Democratic messaging up and down the ticket absolutely horrendous. It makes absolutely no sense that in a State where a DFLer was elected Governor, both the house and Senate were lost by wide Margins. Granted it was a strong year for conservatives, but if that were truly the case in Minnesota, wouldn't there have been a governor Emmer? According to Diane Loeffler, my local House Representative, 75,000 less voters came out to the comparable year of 2006.
The Democratic party needs to have much stronger leadership here locally in Minnesota and Nationally. I think one thing that can be learned from the Tea Party is their great message-cohesion.
The White House certain could use some help with messaging. It has been clear after this year that playing defense simply doesn't work. If anything, Republicans are incredibly effective at ad-nausea. They take a message, spin it how they want and then somehow it becomes fact in political rhetoric. You can pretty much take any major Congressional or State initiative over the last two years up until the Lame-Duck. If the lame-duck was any sign of life, it showed that the Democrats when pushing up against a wall, bite back. I wish this efficiency and fervor can translate into the new legislative year

The City of Minneapolis DFL caucuses are Tuesday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m.
Dear Neighbor,
The City of Minneapolis DFL will hold caucuses on Tuesday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. to prepare for city elections. The business of these caucuses will be:
1. Elect delegates to ward conventions (to endorse City Council candidates)
2. Elect delegates to the Minneapolis city convention (to endorse Mayor, Park Board, and Board of Estimate and Taxation candidates)
3. Elect ward officers and committee members for ward conventions
There will be no straw polling or other voting at this year's caucus, so we have no reason to anticipate the long lines of 2008.
We hope to see you at caucuses! Although it feels like the 2008 election is not over yet (ahem, Senate race), we do have critical business at the city level.

Attack Adds on Franken have backfired
Good News
Star Tribune reports that the attack adds that have been so prevalent in the Senate race has backfired on both Coleman and Franken ..... but mostly on Coleman.
"The survey shows that 56 percent of poll respondents consider ads criticizing Franken to be “mostly unfair personal attacks.” Only 42 percent said the same about ads criticizing Coleman" - Star Tribune
The poll shows that Franken has taken a large lead over Coleman:
Franken: 43
Coleman: 34
Barkley: 18
It is nice to see voters have now come to how unfair the Coleman adds really are. Franken has give a great populist message over the past few months. If no good comes from the stock market situation other then the economic policies of non-regulation Bush republicans...like Coleman are bad for the average person. The Middle class needs better economic policies then we have been getting.
Hopefully the DFL can capitalize on this... and build on the 9 point advantage. It is not time to celebrate yet...there is still a month until election day... get out and doorknock ..make phone calls and do some grassroots organizing!!

Race getting close according to recent Polls
Pollster.com results show that the senate race is seemingly getting a lot closer after the primary. The four major polls posted in September have an average of Norm receiving a 3.25% lead over Al. With the entry of Barkley, a former Senator, this race is getting interesting. The DFL has the resources to help Franken. Franken should stress his common roots and Midwestern values. This in addition to questionable votes and motives he has shown about Coleman is the formula to success. The race is winnable, especialy with the Economy now in the forefront. Senators shouldn't be getting trips all over the world, when their constiuents can't pay their bills.
